...annnnddd this blog entry was in the oven for...an extremely long period of time.
Such a long period of time that I AM NOW ALREADY EXTREMELY SICK OF THE TEN-DAY MEME and I kind of want to ditch it for the 30-letter one. Because letters to other people are so much more fun to write than incessant narcissism spewing from me.
BUT.
I will prevail against an evil meme. Heroic Music please?
[ Also, all of the below was written in five minutes, give or take two minutes because I kind of started when The Hailed One said seven minutes. Then I was like ahhhh. So forgive the absence of dull wit and slapdash/stick humour pleaseeee. ]
Day one: ten things you want to say to ten different people right now.
Day two: nine things about yourself.
Day three: eight ways to win your heart.
Day four: seven things that cross your mind a lot.
Day five: six things you wish you’d never done.
Day six: five people who mean a lot (in no order whatsoever)
Day seven: four turn offs.
Day eight: three turn ons.
Day nine: two smileys that describe your life right now.
Day ten: one confession
...the heroic music kind of killed whatever enthusiasm I had for this. Also, I think most of the reasons I give will apply to platonic relationships as well. AND WHAT KIND OF STUPID PHRASING IS WIN YOUR HEART ANYWAY. What about ways to earn my love?
Also feel warned: I feel obliged to give a stupor-inducing reasoning for most factors which may or will sound extremely trite.
SO. LET THE LOVE BEGIN.
...why am I doing this anyway.
ME!
eesh. maybe i'll just be unimaginative and do another day of the memey thing
The Hailed One
YAY
ME!
that's not yay. did you see the next topic? something about ways to win my heart. what are they talking about. I HAVE NO HEART D:
The Hailed One
LOL.
ways to win alice's heart
- be a DID
- give her hugs and kisses
- be very nice to her
- make her laugh
- eat snails
- don't do the above point
- dance around
-etc
She Speaks The Truth. I'm done!
[ ^ THAT was the dramatic edit which made me break the seven-minute blog boundary. Sad. ]
Righty-o.
1. Be fairly loyal/faithful
BECAUSE.
..ahaha major corniness coming.
Life is totally made of both good and bad happenings - it's for better or worse.
SO.
..okay I'm out of sweetness. General idea got conveyed, yes?
2. A vaguely comfortable relationship
...because I think it's kiiinnddd of dodgy to have your heart won. And then break out in a cold nervous sweat next to your saviour. Yepp, as is probably extremely obvious by now, I really don't like the phrase 'win your heart'.
3. Some semblance of funnies
Amusing = good.
4.Be willing to do completely random things and possibly extremely stupid things
...I have a weird impulse to do odd/foolish/time-wasting things occasionally. WHY NOT JOIN ME?
5. Fairly equal relationship
Have this dodgy GIRLPOWER! thing thanks to a) 6 years of girl school or b) three days of watching dae jang geum.
6. Fairly intelligent
This sounds dodgily elitist. And there's the whole thing of how intelligence can be measured. SO LET'S GO BY MY STANDARD OF INTELLIGENCE which I will invent sometime in the next few billion years or so.
7. Write to me.
Was re-reading plane letters the other day and promptly disintegrated into this blobby blob of goo. I think it's due to some narcisstic gene gone rampant which makes me love people who write to me. Thus. Write.
8. BAKE FOR ME!
So someone baked me a cake after hearing The Sock Story.
AND I was like ADULATION.
.'. I gather that I either a) eat too much b) my love is too easily won or c) I'm just really out of factors for how someone can 'win my heart'.
..I THINK MY BRAIN JUST WENT INTO A COMA. Whoever doubted my powers of making random stuff tedious - HERE IS YOUR THOUGHT-NUMBING INOCULATION.
- random fact spammage of all that I've learned these holidays -
*Cow manure isn't the only thing to spontaneously combust - crates of pistachios do too due to high fat/low water content.
*When female sharks initially give birth, they lose their sense of appetite as to help them lose all the weight gained from pregnancy.
...I'm scared because some people are fairly gullible. It's to stop them from eating their pups. Or whatever shark babies are called.
P.S. I blogged for you. And it's kind of a relatively long entry. When I could have totally loophole-d and posted one word. BE HAPPY AND SLEEP (:
P.P.S. OH I'M GOOD - told you I can blog heaps in five minutes. Even though it's mostly all offal. Whatever. POINT PROVEN, NON-BELIEVER.
Damn the edit broke seven minutes into ten or something.

...so don't be afraid to jump and fall.
I had such a relatively productive day today - my desk was both organised and cleaned!
...yeah that shows how worthwhile my life has become of late after the exam period. Which can't even really be used as an excuse anymore because it was so long ago.
I think I was going to blog about life, thus spent countless milliseconds ruminating over that rather...deep topic.
...until I realised it was just too deep and hence would need more time for brain juices to ferment. So I'm going to finish this pesky meme first and get some sense of narcissistic satisfaction, since I think I'm only really doing this so I can look back on these excuses for blog entries next year and gape.
Day one: ten things you want to say to ten different people right now.
Day two: nine things about yourself.
Day three: eight ways to win your heart.

...What kind of facts am I supposed to put, unknown ones? Known ones to people who know me reallyyy well?
And what if...okay dawdling done.
1. I generally don't really care about special 'days' like birthdays/anniversaries, due to...no actual logical basis that I would bother to type out.
2. I honestly think that doing assignments/work at the near-literal last minute achieves some of my best results. ...not that I'm going to continue this next term. -leans on wood-
3. I...don't like wearing hats or sunscreen. Therefore, every summer = major tan. Eww I can see the distraught expression of that SLIP SLOP SLAP bird already.
4. I have a fairlyy terrible memory with stuff I just think of/don't deem to be too important. E.g. Heaps of times, when I get the urge to google something, I half-type the term in the search bar and forget what I'm suposed to do.
5. Relatively sensitive to chilli/spiciness/wasabi. Although because of this streak of obstinancy that is convinced that my tastebuds will eventually have to Lamarckian-ly adapt to the taste because of the whole survival of the fittest thing, I keep on trying essence of spiciness every once in a while. And regret it.
6. ...once I bit into a once-centimetre thick slice of red hot chilli pepper. And burst out crying.
7. Talking via telephones/mobiles = a vague dislike. It's not anything really solid, i just prefer to either meet up irl or type most of the time.
8. One of the non-major reasons for why I used to never bother blogging was because I thought my life was too boring for people to read about.
...what am I talking about, I still think that.
But I've overcome that moral boundary with an injection of egomania.
9. I don't like drinking water. ..which is probably terrible, but I don't like the taste of it! and don't think I get thirsty too easily.
9.25 i.e. bonus fact! because I can't count.
I'M A MILLIONARE! ...on Neopets. I only really gave up that virtual pet thing around year ten-ish after promising for a veritable eon that I would. Although that never worked. So I had to cold turkey it.
...AND I SUFFERED DREADFUL WITHDRAWL SYMPTOMS. Don't make light of people breaking addictions kiddies, it's hard. ...although I've been clean for a year or so.
...okay I should really stop watching drug documentaries. Hi Ben Cousins.
Okay last fact which is supposed to act like a disclaimer; I have this weird cyclical thing which causes all my ingrained beliefs/preferences/fears/whatever to change once in a while. Soooo these may not necessarily reflect my life in five minutes or so.
Vague ramblings to self -
*Dispose of most stuff from this year. And return textbooks.
*...start...thinking of studying soon...pleaseeee...
*Somehow improve writing speed involving in-class things? Apparently I write around 700 words in 40 minutes. Which...doesn't sound too promising.
*...and today is Yom Kippur. Happy Yom Kippur? Do people even say that, or just atone?

ECONOMICS REVISION - ewwwww, i've lost all hope so let's go BACK TO THE SIMPLE STUFF
FRAMEWORK
Damnnn I still feel really IRRITATINGLY COMPLACENT about this eco test. Which sucks because it all got crammed in today and I doubt how much I can remember thanks to normally relatively shoddy memory.
SO. BACK TO BASICS AND OTHER CRAP.
Equilibrium In Circular Flow
S + T + M = I + G + X
..when asked about budget surplus/deficit, LOOK AT THE GOVERNMENT BITS ONLY i.e. G/T, oh person who's made this mistake like ten times already.
Y = C + S
Market Equilibrium;
Demand = supply
PPC => represents combination of what could be produced - two goods.
OC => represents alternative FOREGONE
Cannot move outside of curve unless new tech/resources found. Or something.
Labour Force = employed+unemployed seeking work (+self-employed)
Participation Rate = Labour force over working age population
Taxation
ART = T over Y
MRT = change in T over change in Y
MRT refers to LAST DOLLAR EARNED
APC/APS/MPC/MPS are pretty similar to Taxation formulas...
MPC + MPS = 1
Budget outcomes = deficit, surplus or balanced.
Budget stances = expansionary, contractionary, neutral.
Currently => peak of $57 bn deficit, contractionary stance aiming for surplus by 2013.
Price elasticity;
TOTAL OUTLAY METHOD
price x quantity = revenue. ...OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT.
When price and revenue move same way, inelastic.
When price and revenue move awayyy, elastic.
When price moves and revenue stays the same, unitary.
The graphs, generally elastic is flatter, inelastic is steeper and unitary's 45 degrees or so. But they'll hopefully have numbers..
...anything else?
Real Interest = nominal - inflation
Disposable = gross minus a glut of other stuff.
Okayy if we're getting really really basic...might as well do blurb of Topic One as well as anything else.
Consumer sovereignty = when consumers determine what is produced. May be affected by stuff like persuasive advertising.
Economy must answer;
-What to produce
-How to produce
-How much to produce
-How to distribute
..oh as if we'll ever get tested on those. Stop taking up precious brain space D: opportunity cost dude.
GST = regressive? Indirect?
Impact of tax = who suffers from the tax
Incidence of a tax = whoever the tax is aimed for attaches it for another person
Company tax = proportional? Direct?
Oligopoly => few large firms are selling the similar things thus less-no market entry barrier and price takers => takes price market allocates
Monopoly => when one business has control over an entire industry, generally seen as bad so Government does all sorts of stuff to prevent it unless it's the one owning monopoly. Monopoly may be good as it then has to strive for technical/allocative effeciency to deter other people trying to take its market share. price maker => powerr in price, able to restrict output.
monopolistic competition => relatively large amount of firms selling extremely similar things which are only differentiated by things like brand, relatively easy to enter still and although still price taker => bit more control than sheer oligopoly because you can mess with consumer minds here
Perfect/pure competition => When they sell the same thing and no longer have power to determine anything, all determined by supply and demand
...ergh what IS that horror.
NEXT!
Uh. remember supply/demand graphs. demand = negative gradient. ME = when they intersect. Movements => price change only. Shifts can be changes in everything else; new equilibrium price!
TRENDS!
Increased casualisation of workforce means moving away from traditional thing of full-time employment => benefits such as flexibility/lower oncosts.
ADVANTAGES of it
employers => able to hire quickly, diversely, less on-costs
employees => able to diversify experience, quit easily, switch easily
DISADVANTAGES
employers => dude, paperwork. and if specialised skills are needed, hard to find.
employees => less job security, perks
Greater part-time thing during 2005-08 = because of half the reasons for casualisation. + possible social change due to women re-entering workforce => 71% of part time were women in 2007 according to Gittens or someone.
Any other trends?
Gender roles => women paid 15.6% less on average ~ 2008
despite equal opportunity cases and everything. SHAME.
ASX top 200 - 28% less ~2008
POSSIBLY because women have had less time as part of permanent workplace + less education but...eh.
Unemployment
Cyclical => contractionary economic activity => lower aggregate demand => not as much demand for labour = unemployment.
Structural => when structural change in economy happens e.g. technology making jobs obsolete thus jobs are eradicated.People who lost jobs may not have skills which fulfil criteria of new sectors hence unemployment. e.g. ATMS => teller-people. What are they actually called?
Current inflation rate = 3.1%
Which is over the RBA target of inflation which is 2-3% on average per business cycle. May have effect on the cash rate in future - currently 4.5%.
Speaking of RBA...
it conducts monetary policy through its manipulations of the cash rate.
This is done through DMOs => cash rate on overnight loans to banks through STMM money => banks/non-banks have Exchange Settlement Accounts with RBA => within STMM, forces of supply and demand rule. If supply>demand, lower rate. => can lower through RBA selling Commonwealth Gov. Securities and RPAs, making 'em attractive until banks buy them thus lessening amount of available cash = higher rates! => vice versa, RBA buys 'em back to give money.
..and when cash rate changes, generally banks follow to reflect its interest on loans.
RBA wants to reach economic utopia i.e. optimum i.e. low unemployment/inflation.
Why would it ever lower cash rate?
Steady low inflation + possible unemployment threat = Lowerr.
Too much inflation = raiiiseee.
BLAHHHHHHH.
RANDOM GOVERNMENT STUFF which I haven't actually looked at for a term but will trust myself for now and verify tomorrow;
$42 infrastructure thing to stimulate economy 08/09
forecast unemployment for GFC = 8.5% => only really peaked at 5.8% or so. Which is kind of cool.
Deficit => $57bn peak 09/10
AUS DID GOOD during GFC = only one quarter of negative return thereby avoiding technical recession, first developed economy to spring back. Although deficit is a little problem, surplus was supposed to come back by 2013 as according to budget if the world hasn't ended by then.
...like they ever need these.
FINANCIAL REGULATORS = APRA, ASIC, RBA = COFR
They do all sorts of nice stuff to ensure financial stability which I really cbb to type, this gang of three was established due to Wallis Inquiry 1996.
..why do I even know that, thanks wiki.
Stuff which may affect;
demand of goods => price of the good, price of other goods, fashion of the time
supply of goods => how expensive it is to produce, expectations regarding that good,
supply of labour => random stuff about population e.g. age, workplace environment, pay...human capital (skills needed)
demand of labour => economic conditions (derived demand), cost of it relative to capital, labour productivity
We apparently don't need anything for price elasticity ( I THINK ) but just in case...
price elasticity of demand => is it a luxury, substitutes, how long it's been since last price hike, proportion of income spent on thing..
supply => ..basically same thing dude.
OKAY I'M DONE WITH THE INCOHERENT POCKMARKS OF ECONOMICS, will cram last-minute-ly more literally today. Hello witching hour, I'm hoping to never see you again because of education-related stuff.
BYEBYE SOON LAST PRELIMINARY EXAM WHICH I SORT OF CARE ABOUT (:
ECONOMICS UPDATE FOR MY OWN REFERENCE BECAUSE RESULTS WERE RELEASED ABNORMALLY QUICKLY,
and because I doubt anyone cares enough to read this.
*...you remembered how to do ART but not MRT? And BOTH OF THESE you typed out on this thing around eight hours before the test? Oh shameee.
*You put the fruit market as a factor market. When there was a capital market option hovering innocuously around two centimetres above it. Yepp. And then Mr. Mac wonders why the grade sort of failed at MC.
*YOU FORGOT HOW TO SPELL YOUR ECONOMICS TEACHER'S NAME AND SO PUT MR.MAC(: on all your test papers? ...nooooooo.
*Post-mortems are kind of fun, but relatively useless. Just go reread the test papers if you ever want to refresh mistakes.
*Oh yeah. major warning for the future; DON'T GET THHAAATT complacent about legal studies. It's a really horrifying subject in disguise. Oh, and modern as well. Plus eco. And probably Italian. And...Englishes...I suppose...even though they're not out yet...ew...

dreams of a prince on a tall white horse which runs like a spirit by the castle walls;
Gosh, I really should stop with the Aqua/song lyrics as blog titles.
So I had some sort of lame epiphany last night which makes me want to post at least nine more entries in this blog throughout my lifetime. How irritating.
But anyway. In my quest to further spread love to the world via socks and all that, here's a replying letter for the hailed one within this blog.
Which means that it's sort of dodgy if others read it, but eh, I don't mind. Unless she does.
Okay preamble over; the actual letter.
‘Sup DID,
How’s the shining tower going? I think that this is the many-th blog entry I’ve dedicated/written for you, so feel a special overload. Also, this one is going to be corny, nostalgic and overly long so be prepared to cringe!
Firstly (oh hey, doesn’t this sound like an essay now), I love you! (although ahem, the jibe at my height [or lack of it] within your letter-thing has totally lessened this love.)
Entering high school, you were one of the first friends I made. Although there was the period of time when we were less-tight (when was that, year 8-9? Even though I have Doraemon plushies from you which were given in year 9..), I’m genuinely happy that we’re relatively close now. Honestly, I agree that I’ve changed quite a bit during the time that we’ve known each other, and you’ve been there most steps along the way. I think you’ve also possibly contributed to that change, seeing as you’re oh-so-wise and all. Not! Kidding. Although I do think you have helped me grow as a person - we’ve gone from year 7 Neopets to…well, uh, last week you were still talking about Neopets so maybe…possibly not? But, heaps of the time it seems like I live in a little bubble of oblivion. Within this void, you bring reality and…things like uh…information regarding general life and its worries. See, now I know you have to bleach Asian hair if you want the colour to go in. For these enlightenments and keeping-it-real hits, gratitude.
I actually love how you’re frank with insecurities, complaints and doubts that you want to air - it totally saves guesswork and all that drama. It also means that I don’t have to probe and instead can just leave matters to instead waste time in less productive ways. But it is a really refreshing quality, and respect! for the braveness&etc of actually communicating what you want instead of just leaving it for others to mindread. E.g. kisses, anyone? Ohh, and you update your blog so regularly and tell me when you do - a weird factor, but I like that too. Makes my stalking of your life so much easier!
You know another thing I totally love about you? The fact that you’re amused and cheered by really simple things despite everything. I mean, the MUPPETS, seriously? As well as the downloading songs and adding song lyrics thing. Honestly, it takes around a few seconds for me to find the song and an extra few seconds to do lyrics, but you’re so affected by things like that, it’s like ‘Awww.’
Oh, and thanks for always starting the convo with me on msn, as well as asking for me when I’m not there. I know the thing I have about not taking the initiative to talk to people can get irritating, but with you originating the natter most days, totally makes me feel loved! No idea if this is related or means anything, but on my original email account, I was looking through chatlogs and for most months, yours was the largest. (Not for the frog email though, ohhh, someone beat your talking too much thing!)
However, despite all this, remember my armour is rusty! Take care of yourself, both body and mind (this means getting clothes when cold instead of ‘ceebs’ and being happy.) You deserve it.
Cheerio! I’ll be watching over you. Like a guardian angel, or an Edward Cullen.
Your KISA<3
P.S. See, I told you ily-ed more. My letter is longer!
...and this is the official ending of The Letter.
In my continued happy and wanting to procrastinate economics and Italian mood, if anyone else would like a letter, just request. Although it might have to be written after the exams...eh. And the option of having it on this relatively private blog is given.
Anyone who sees me on msn until Wednesday; SPAM ME WITH 'ARE YOU DOING ECO/ITALIAN' please =D..or if you do either, spew out all the eco and ita theory you know. Grazie mille!
For these enlightenments and keeping-it-real hits, gratitude.

anndd it's a propensity towards pathos...
I think there's something weird in the water.
Blogging three times a month? With the month only having just started? Oh, it's SPRING! YAY! ...although minus the yay for pollen and hayfever.
I think right now I'm supposed to be revising Italian and Economics.
..economics is a dangerous subject, it's given me an abnormal attachment towards the word propensity. It's also given me this semi-laconic way of expressing thoughts, as well as disconnected thought processes.
So this blog entry was started sometime during the holidays almost eight weeks ago.
...and I totally did the 'I wrote THAT?' thing and gave most of it a major rehaul because a) I forgot why I wrote most of it 'cause it was half-incomplete and b) major change of views and all that. Oh, that makes the old entry sound so suspicious.
The one part which I kept was...
'I LOVE YOU RAINY! ..and yeah I feel reasonably honoured. Actually...'
...which I had to think about for a while, wondering why it was there.
..it was for the tumblr friend thing when she had no comments available. Now this feels all out of correct chronological order...but eh, there's your late gratefulness.
...but I do thank&love you. Really!
Hm. I now feel rather corny. Time for a mundane story.
Sooo I was the chemist today buying packs of tissues or something.
During check-out, the dude told me I looked cold, and I replied it was because the weather was disgusting. Even though it wasn't actually that bad.
Hearing this, he was like 'wait here', leaving me standing there feeling vaguely aimlessly awkward.
..and then he reappeared holding those really brightly coloured fleece socks with psychedelic swirly patterns.
And was like 'take a pair. I hope these will warm you up'
So now I have a pair of vibrant socks which are really warm (:
MORAL OF THE STORY;
Go around and give people socks; it'll make them happy!
Socks being a possible metaphor for unexpected nice stuff.
This act of sock-gifting by a random stranger really stressed how nice it is to experience unexpected kind deeds by strangers. Or just people in general.
...maybe I have a previously unknown love of socks.
This TEN DAYS thing seems to be circulating...
So I'll do it! And possibly stretch it to last for ten months. Or considering the weird-water thing, mayybee I'll blog more and it'll be finished within the month.
..or I'll just forget about this and not bother to finish it.
I think I'm making them relatively unsubtle and kind of truthful, sooo...here goes personal thoughts into cyberspace...
'I'm so proud of you! Okay, that sounds really weird and parent-ish, but I actually am. Over the years, you've grown so much ( anndd I don't mean physically, although I'm sure that's happened as well ) and I love how you've developed so much. Go go go!'
..why did that sound like a massive innuendo-y thing. Maybe it's my imagination.
'Occasionally, you intimidate and irritate me. Just occasionally. It's mostly all good.'
'You're majorly impressive and inspiring, and you have wonderful skills. Many kudos!'
'It's really good to see that you're happy and...it totally makes me happy! I hope you remain happy, be happy in the future and I'm getting really sick of the word happy now.'
'I'm still thinking of you (: even though we haven't had contact for a whilleee...hope you're doing well.'
'I think I'm really mean to you half the time, but that's your fault for lying to me. However, I do think you're cool because you're one of those weirdly fun people to talk to. And you get my occasional bouts of insanity + propensity to change topics randomly. SO I LIKE YOU! You know, deep deep deeeeep down.'
'You're such a lovely person - don't let others abuse this or get you down!'
'After all these years and all that not wholly nice hidden history between us, I'm weirdly impressed by the fact that we kiinndd of still keep in touch. And amused that it seems the fairly rare times when I think about you, you just randomly pop up and further embed your place within my life. I'm glad that you seem to be enjoying life, you're forever my backup to write about at school when asked about those stereotypical friend/relationship questions and thanks for existing (:'
'THANK YOU FOR THE SOCKS - THEY TOTALLY MADE MY DAY. Honestly, I've been in this state of "awww that was really nice" and happiness for ages.'
..I think I do have a previously unfound love of socks.
'I know you're in a bit of a bad patch right now but I think you're doing a great job at getting out of it. Keep positive, continue what you're doing and I hope it gets better soon.'
Disclaimer-ish thing which isn't really a disclaimer; although a few of the messages are exclusively for one person only, some can encompass messages to heaps of people. Who cares about the supposed boundaries of these things anyway...
Also, I'm totally not giving info out about those messages. Unless you're one of the two who have already spoken to me in which case, feel fortunate and irritating since it made me to post a disclaimer (:
So it seems that I'm getting bored of blogging and that the pesky preliminary exam period is nearly over. Meaning that we're about to be launched into what is supposed to be a year in which our fate is going to be decided.
..oh that wasn't melodramatic at all.
But.
(Not sure who I'm typing to here)
Good luck everyone - stay reasonably happy&healthy annndddd...
...adesso, sono stanca e ho fame. Devo andare, voglio mangiare dolci...o qualcosa...ma faccio sul serio - in bocca al lupo tutti!
oh DAMNN just got informed I have to go out the day before economics exam due to my august grandmother's birthday.

two wars of DOOOOMMMMM; the second one.
Oh and I forgot last time...imagine a disclaimer here stating that any historical details mentioned in this blog tonight MAY OR MAY NOT BE accurate/biased/warped. it's also a good moral lesson; NEVER LEARN THESE THINGS IN ONE NIGHT.
Without further ado; THE YOM KIPPUR WAR (October 1973)
BACKGROUND;
After their tragic defeat in the Six Day War, Egypt and Syria are BACK! to challenge Israel. This time, they want the Sinai back, as well as the Suez Canal which got taken in what, 1952? So, they hatch a dastardly plan to attack Israel in a time when they're unsuspecting - YOM KIPPUR! It's a Jewish holy day.
THE ACTUAL WAR (SUMMARY because I don't know the blow-by-blow and I'm praying they don't ask for a recount);
6 October 1973 => Syria+Egypt strike, looks promising, Israel suffers heavy casualties and nearly gets pushed out of Golan Heights and Sinai Peninsula. However, they soon rally back, and Syria gets pushed back. Once Israel nears Damascus, the Arabs feel threatened so the mighty SOVIETS come to splurge billions of dollar arming them. ..then the US comes and does the same for Israel.
CEASEFIRE was called on 22/10, but the Israelis kind of broke this.
So the Russians get mad at their duplicity and threaten to bring over air troops to support Egypt.
Then USA Nixon's like ...well we have NUCLEAR WEAPONS and puts their troops on alert.
...and the USSR backs down.
Although the Arabs had a hidden weapon - the oil weapon. They were able to control oil supplies for much of the world, and with this, they increased oil prices by 70% + stopped oil supply to USA & Europe.
The US, faced with the prospect of a direct Soviet clash (remember, cold war's all about proxy. don't show true colours.) as well as an oil threat (dodgy to US economy), pressured Israel into signing a ceasefire. Israel, thus persuaded, signed a joint USA-Soviet ceasefire agreement in November with Egypt.
...and hence the Yom Kippur War ends.
IMPACTS OF THE WAR
*it kickstarted the peace progress in the Middle east - lead to the first significant peace accords between Israel and an Arab Nation/Egypt ( Camp David Accord, 1978 , as well as disengagement agreements were signed with Egypt and Syria (1974/5). Thus impact = peace, made Israel's place in the Middle East more stable.
*highlighted the importance of oil as a weapon in the conflict - using it, the Arab countries achieved their political demands with US/Israel. impacted conflict - whole new weapon/aspect to look out for - and yeah it's important 'cause it was the reason for the later Gulf War!
*Kind of made the Cold War rivalries as a factor in the war obvious - Soviet and the US both sue billions of dollars ( Soviet - 2.5 )to arm the poor used countries to be proxies in their Cold War. new players, and since these were the superpowers of the time, new POWERFUL players.
That's all.
...I'm going to delete these entries one day. Tripeeee!

two wars of DOOOOMMMMM; the first one.
(totally sorry to whoever I promised I'd blog for; this doesn't count! ...or it can, maybe. )
Six-Day War (1967)
background - -
guerrilla attacks made by Palestinians on Israel - Israel, angered, threatens war on Syria.
Soviet intelligence (which later proved to be false) reported that Israel was so incensed it had started amassing troops on Syrian borders. This caused Syria to be scared, and go asking Egypt for assistance, who of course, agreed. Nasser ordered troops into the Sinai while closing the straits-which-I-keep-on-forgetting against Israeli ships.
.'. Israel is surrounded, its ships are stuck and it is fearing an imminent attack.
So it launches a PRE-EMPTIVE strike on June 5 1967.
the actual war - -
June 5; the pre-emptive attack is comprised of 180 Israeli fighter jets i.e. the IAF (Israeli Air Force) attacking the Egyptian air force. Due to an unfortunate sequence of events which include an airport defense lockdown and a changed code, Egypt had no forewarning of this attack. Also, the rather cunning Israeli ships had taken a detour from its usual paths and instead came via the Red Sea + Mediterranean. The awesome IAF destroyed most of the Egyptian Air Force in a few hours, HENCE ILLUSTRATING THE IMPORTANCE OF GOOD AIR FORCE within the Six Day War.
...I seriously doubt they're going to ask us about how the war went and I'm getting bored.
IN SUMMARY
June5-6; Gaza Strip/Sinai Desert - severely injured Egypt.
June 5-7; they also attacked Jordan at this time, Jordan Air Force died by June 6. See, more importance of IAF. Nice to note that Jordanian King didn't actually want to fight; he felt coerced into it by the prospect of his Palestinian subjects. Oh and this is the period in which West Bank got taken.
June 9-10; Golan Heights - Syria, put up a bit of a fight and had offered a ceasefire. Israel ignored this and attacked anyway. This time IAF wasn't as helpful because of the rather strong fortifications Syria had built but yeah, it's still good.
Then next day, Israel advanced to ceasefire line. Yay.
CONCLUSION OF THIS WAR
-Israel; decisive victory, conquered the Gaza Strip, Sinai Peninsula, West Bank and Golan Heights in SIX DAYS ohhhhh. Thus Israel became known as a regional military power. This war dramatically changed political landscape, map of region, yeah.
-Much humiliation amongst Arab nations. After this terrible defeat, they released the Khartoum Resolution which stated the three No's against Israel.
IMPACTS THE WAR HAD ON OVERALL CONFLICT
-More global interest and the proposal of the UN Security Council Resolution 242; proposed that Israel return the land to the Arab states and that the Arab states respect Israel's right to exist.
...and then they said no due to ambiguous terming over land boundaries and omission about anything on refugees. As well as, WHY would Israel want to give back land it just won? Worth a try, impacted future of the conflict as this was a relatively famous peace proposal which was actually considered, and it got re-discussed in the David Camp Accords. Which was much later.
-exacerbated terrorism as a military strategy; after the sad sad defeat of the Arabs in this war, they decided a new tactic - playing dirty! i.e. terrorism. The PLO (Palestinian Liberation Organisation ) which was originally formed by Arab states and situated in Egypt/Jordan, expanded its boundaries with the conquering of their land. They changed the whole NATURE of the conflict by launching random attacks on Israeli civilians, as well as in the Munich Olympics (1972??), they attacked the Israeli athletes there. ouchh.
-Produced a kinda stale-mate-y thing; although Israel had established itself as powerful etc, it wasn't powerful enough to conquer the entire Arab world (we think.)
Also, with the conquering of the extra land, although this meant that Israel was able to expand its boundaries to create a sort of "buffer zone", most of the land harboured millions of resentful Palestinians which weren't very friendly to the Israeli cause. This affected the conflict in that it furthered a big issue - Palestinian refugees!
AND THIS KIDDIES, is why no one should learn about two wars in one night. + this is only half of it!
That was tiring. Whose idea was it to blog educational things?
